Featured Oakland Project: Paver Patio, Fire Pit & Retaining Wall System
A hillside Oakland property became an outdoor entertaining destination after Rock-N-Gardens addressed its grade challenges and built out a complete backyard living space. We installed a tiered retaining wall system using natural boulders and fieldstone to carve out two level usable areas from the slope, then built a large paver patio on the upper tier with an integrated gas fire pit lounge. A set of wide bluestone steps connects the tiers, and a stepping stone path winds toward the tree line at the rear of the property. Low-maintenance plantings — ornamental grasses, inkberry, and a mix of native perennials — complete the borders and tie the finished hardscape back into Oakland's natural wooded setting.
